44 Million People On Food Stamps

I saw this today and I was shocked. Basically 1 in 7 people are at or below the poverty line. This is not a judgement against those who receive assistance. I know a percentage of people may be abusing the system and some are lifers that depend on the government like a child but I know the majority are people that are just down on their luck. I want this to be more of a statement of how far we have fallen. We the people need to stand up and demand we get our country back. The gap between the haves and have nots is greater then ever and  if we keep going at this rate we are going to have a caste of super wealthy and the poor. No middle class, the back bone of this nation, just large soulless corporations and the working stiffs that they stand on. Small businesses are dying out, higher education cost are through the roof, and just try to find a decent manufacturing job. Things need to change and soon I feel we are at a tipping point.

And if things don't change I guess I will see you at Wal-mart

the gap between the rich and poor is so ridiculous now a days, but congress never consideres raising the taxes on the rich.

Raising the taxes on the rich will do nothing, because the rich who have gotten there by hard work will suffer because of their businesses, but the rich who are just... rich know their way around the system and know how make the banks, the IRS, and the Fed work for them. The thing that would level the playing field is a fair chance for NEW businesses (in the form of a more free market-type economy) which would create more jobs and more competitive wages.
*ahem* (if I may): look up Ron Paul. Read his books if you have time.

Raising Taxes income tax is not the answer. IMO a consumption tax would be better and a whole lot easier and
cheaper to manage. We need to get spending under control and make America a maker of goods again and stop importing so much of our consumer items from China, Taiwan, and etc.

I don't know what you think, but tax is not the cure.

they wont be able to get around if we fix the loopholes, especially for corporations, like GE who paid less then everyone here in taxes last year.

And the number that apply & are denied foodstamps (or another aid programs) & are denied because they make too much, & are still struggling because of the dollar's ever-falling value is even higher.
